Frequently Asked Questions

Q: We do not live in the Unionville / Kennett Square area. Is my daughter eligible to participate in the URA Girls Lacrosse Program?
A: Possibly. We are a member of PAGLA, and abide by the PAGLA rules and policies. PAGLA policy states that program members must reside within the boundary lines of their local school district. This makes the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District our official boundary lines. If there is no girls lacrosse club within your school boundaries, then you may play for a neighboring organization. Other exceptions are by approval. If you reside outside of UCFSD and wish to play for URA Girls lacrosse you must complete the player release form and submit to the PAGLA board of directors for approval. The release form can be found on the PAGLA website at www.pagla.org or by using the link at the left of this page.

Q: Can I, being a parent that has no girls lacrosse experience, help out?
A: Yes!!!  If you are a parent that has never played the game of lacrosse before, never seen it, that is ok! We will not make you a head coach. Please consider voluteering so this program can continue to grow and be successful for our children.

Q: What is the 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 listed on the About URA Girls Lacrosse Rec?
A: Our program is broken out by grades. 1/2 is 1st and 2nd grades, 3/4 is 3rd and 4th grades and so on.

Q: What happens if it rains on a practice day or game day and the game or practice is cancelled?
A: Our program is a recreational program and we play other recreational programs. Unfortunately, all of these programs have limited field space and times. Attempts to make up games will be made, however, it is unlikely that practices will be rescheduled. Practice will continue on the next scheduled practice date unless your coach contacts you with other details.

Q: My daughter has been playing since she was in 1st grade and is currently in 6th grade. She plays all year for different programs. Would it be possible for my daughter to play with the 7th and 8th grade group to put her with girls that are potentially the same skill level or higher?                                                                                                                           A: No. We belong to an organizaton called PAGLA and their diectives do not allow for a player to play up a grdae level.

Q: Can my daughter request to play on the same team with her friend?                                                    A: Possibly. We plan practices for 1/2s and 3/4s all on the same days and we attempt to do that with the 5/6 teams.  This scheduling takes away the challenge of carpooling.  Since almost all our players will end up at Patton Middle School, we believe making new friends in all our grade level programs is a wonderful thing.

Q: What equipment will my daughter need?                                                                                                                      A: Every player needs to have a girl's lacrosse stick, lacrosse eyewear goggles, and a mouthguard.  Cleats are recommended since we play on grass.  Lacrosse gloves or dollar store gloves are strongly recommended since we play as spring is just starting.
